This is the official web site of an Amateur Radio repeater club which maintains radio repeaters atop Box Mountain in Vernon. The club is an affiliated Service Club of the ARRL and meets regularly on the second Wednesday of each month except July and August. Members hold an informal dinner around 5:00 pm at the Hometown Buffet, 165 Slater Street in Manchester, CT. The formal meeting begins at 7 PM on the second floor of the Town of Manchester Emergency Operations Center, 321 Olcott Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
The club also meets for informal breakfasts at restaurants around the area on two Saturdays each month. Check here for announcements about the next breakfast. These are pay-your-own way events and we welcome anyone with an interest in amateur radio, you do not need to be a member or even hold an Amateur Radio FCC license. Please join us at a breakfast and we'll be happy to explain what Amateur Radio is, why you might enjoy it, how to find a free class to learn how to pass the entry-level FCC license exam, when and where the exam is given, what equipment to start with and where to get it, how to operate, and much more.
See the "Calendar" tab at left for the club calendar. This contains both events sanctioned by the BEARS club, and other events of interest to all Amateur Radio operators and Emergency Communicators.
See the "Events" button on top horizontal bar for photo essays about various BEARS events held throughout the year.
